Special Event
Amador Farm Daylily Days

June 27 & 28

A weekend of bloomin' fun is planned for Amador Flower Farm's 13th annual Daylily Days celebration as more than a million daylilies burst into bloom!  Free tram ride tours of the farm, hourly gardening demonstrations, informational booths, and idea gardens full of unique perennials will delight visitors. In addition to Amador County's wonderful Master Gardeners, who will be on hand to answer questions, the Master Preservers of neighboring El Dorado County and a food and nutrition specialist from Save Mart will be available to answer questions regarding nutrition and safely preserving the bounty of our home gardens! Food will be available for sale or folks are welcome to pack a picnic.

The farm is alive with color at this time of the year as the daylilies explode in shades of red, orange, yellow, pink, purple and more.  Stroll the garden paths, find inspiration for your own garden, relax under the oaks, and join in celebrating the Daylily!

This event is open to the public with no admission fee.  For more information click on this link: www.amadorflowerfarm.com

The Sacramento Perennial Plant Club (SPPC) was started in 1988 by a small group of avid gardeners desiring to meet others and exchange ideas on coping with a climate much harsher than the benign coastal region. Gardening in the Central Valley is ruled by the sun with summer temperatures routinely reaching into the hundreds. Winters are characterized by mild frost, and a rainfall of approximately 15 inches a year, coming between October and May. Communities using well water often have to cope with alkaline water, contaminated with toxic-to-plants minerals. Those on the Valley's edge struggle with shallow hardpan impervious to shovels. Despite these obstacles, gardening in this area is filled with possibilities.

The SPPC is an educational, non profit organization dedicated to bringing together gardeners and garden professionals to share experiences.  Our mission is to provide educational opportunities for Sacramento area gardeners and horticulturalists.
General meetings are scheduled on the fourth Thursday of each month, January through June, plus September and October with a social event in December.  These meetings are held at the Shepard Art & Garden Center at 7:00pm.  Meetings include lectures, demonstrations, or workshops conducted by guest speakers and members.  A warm welcome, interesting speakers and events await you!
