WHO WE ARE..................

The Sacramento Perennial Plant Club, aka SPPC, was founded in 1988 to provide a gardening network devoted to sharing knowledge, learning from the experts and enjoying both the hobby and the pursuit of gardening in the Central Valley with other gardeners who share interest in the diversity of perennials, both common and rare.

Hot summers, cold frosty winters, soil that may be clay, hardpan, alkaline, acidic - our Valley has it all. Water is scarce, global warming is evident, but we as devoted gardeners can attempt to solve our personal gardening problems with the help of the experts. We live in a Mediterranean climate and have many planting choices. The SPPC helps its members to "think green" and widens their gardening horizons...

Benefits of membership include various Bus trips and Car trips to nurseries and garden, fund raisers which include plant sales and vendor sales to help members fill those empty spots in their gardens.  At each meeting we have a speaker who lectures on a variety of subjects and an informational segment on plant identification and what is in bloom at the time.

The club sponsors Hamilton Square located in the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery and the WPA Rock Garden in Land Park.  An informative bi-monthly newsletter is published that includes meeting information, articles by members and others, on horticulture and related subjects.

Just imagine....lunch at a specialty nursery, sitting amongst the clematis, the lavender and the roses with wonderful company to share it with.  No more vacant stares when you talk about your latest garden project...instead...enthusiasm, as you talk about your common interests.

Saving the best for last...they all have fun...
